IMG_0091Hands-on learning: Attend as an Intern, Worktrader or Wwoofer.  As an intern you will learn about Strawbale & Cob Wall systems, Earth Plaster & Floors, Thatching & Living Roofs. Skills are practiced  on structures  under construction on this wooded rural land  1 hr N. of Detroit.  Included are Natural Building Design Classes, all Workshops during months attended, experiences in  Permaculture Gardening, Rocket Stove  and Earth Ovens, foraging, fermenting & community connections. Fee covers all training, lodging & food.  8 student limit.  Just $850/mo (1 mo. In advance) or $950/mo thereafter.  Some ½ pay Worktrade & Wwoofing  available. Details. 

Wortrade needs:  fix-it person, grounds, gardening, office.   Household and Meals are shared.

2017 Season INTERNSHIPS & Worktrade, Wwoofer take place April through October. 
Attend 1 month or more.
CONNECT to the land, work with natural materials, live & build in community !         Immerse yourself in a one month learning experience which includes a wide variety of hands-on skills and classroom subjects in design & construction.  Learn Real-Life skills. Focus on earth plaster and building surrounds. Live & learn on-site with others, in a beautiful rural wooded setting 1 hr n of Detroit.

SPRING CLASSES     dates to be determined

Kids Adventure Days     A wonderful day in the outdoors for Families !   Learn about natural building & sustainability by touring the grounds… and having hands-on interactions with nature: make an earth sculpting mix, create a fairy house, and more.  Add on option: Pizza in the Earth Oven !  Contact Deanne to schedule a date for  your class, scout troop or special collection of young folks  !

Foraging Class – plants on the land for food and medicine.

Foraged Brunch – foraging and cook a meal on the Outdoor Rocket Cooker !

Fermentation !  Kombucha, Sour Dough Wraps, Butter & more.

Traditional Crafts Weekend?  Wood Carving & Fermenting and more +++    2 1/2 day Retreat !

Earth Oven – hands on construction of a small model, everything you need to know to make one at home.

Rocket Stove Class – hands mockup of the combustion unit, principles and design.

Dig Plants to take Home ~  There are many plants on the land that would love to go home with you. Very easy to grow.  By donation.

003STRAWBALE CONSTRUCTION  BASICS

This class is for folks that are considering building with a strawbale wall system. Day 1 Design Principles & considerations, bale selection.  Day 2 Hands -on ~ how to re-size bales, mix and apply earth plasters.
